The Game of Politics

Election season brings out the worst in people as a select few fight to obtain power that will enable them to govern the rest of society. Elections are nothing more than public popularity contest. Money is a candidate’s best friend because the more money they have, the easier they can reach everyday voters with their messages. Messages that pat themselves on the back for what they consider to be good deeds and ignoring their faults, while ignoring the good deeds performed by their opponent(s) and bluntly pointing out their faults.  It’s a vicious cycle repeated every two years.

Politicians are generally people who come from upper class society who typically want nothing to do with people who are of lower class. That is until these people in upper class are running for some public office. Suddenly, they are normal everyday people. Suddenly, they are willing to sit down and listen to people of lower classes and pretend to take an interest in their concerns. Suddenly, they need something from the people who they didn’t give a shit about before….now they way to represent you.

Your Local representative, doesn’t matter what position, now represents you and the whole district or state. These are people with power and influence and no matter how many of them say they believe in Jesus Christ and are devout Christians, they are still human and still susceptible to temptation and thinking about themselves. So all the times they are approached by lobbyist and not just lobbyist, but people who have the money to pay for whatever it is they want, these politicians all too frequently take the “money”. And the reason the take it is because they all know, they may not be back in that position again, and if they don’t take it, the next person in office may, SO you take care of yourself and your family, right? It’s the money and power exchange, with money comes power, with power comes money, and politicians know this.

There are a few public officials who do it because they want to do some good in this world, but there’s not many. When you seen them on TV, how often do you see a look of compassion in their eyes. No, it’s about demonizing the other party, and promoting one’s self. How often is politics about what’s good for the country as a whole and not just what one party prefers. Politics is a game of tug and war, a constant theatrical fight for power to push forward an ideological agenda. The county remains slit because of this. And as long as our county is controlled by two separate parties this is how it will remain. We get so caught up in the constant competition of politics that we forget that we as ordinary people make up the government. Government is failing because we the people are allowing our government to fail. We see the bullshit that’s going on yet we set back and complain about, so therefore it continues and will continue until we wake up and realize our government is only possible because we allow it to be. The United States Declaration of Independence, which is primarily written by Thomas Jefferson states, “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.”  In layman terms it means, you have the moral right to do something, when you see something going wrong. Politicians want us to think that our only role in government is our one vote. We have to ability to change the bullshit we see going on, we are just too ignorant and too lazy to get involved and demand our public official do what is in our best interest.  We get to caught up in taking sides as if we have to pick one or the other. If you’re not feeling comfortable with the people running for office then DON’T VOTE! Don’t get caught up in the hype of election season. Don’t get caught up in the handshakes and smiles and the “I’m just like you” talk. It’s all a show to acquire power. And dumb people fall for it every election season.
